Does someone have information about this arm: price, weight, etc... Some people say that it's like a pro arm but i 've never find comparaison between them...Is it better than Steadyrig arm! Yes really ! :) I just ordered one from rig engineering, and I have to say until now, they've been fantastic. Quick and nice answers to all of my questions... Decent price... Can't wait to receive it ! And regarding "Pro Gear", it seems to be the complete opposite... If it's a PRO-type arm (which is actually a patented design, isn't it ??), it may be a little better than a 3A-type arm, but what if you never receive it even if you've paid for it ? What if you need to have it repaired later ? I definatly wouldn't buy anything there... There are a few recent topics regarding "Pro Gear" on the forum, read them. Nils. Premium Members Thomas English Posted December 29, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 29, 2005 The Infamous Progear arm..... well, I used one for a year and just upgraded to a master arm. You will find plenty here about progear customer service which is absolutely beyond crap. So inconceivably bad you could never fathom the levels of dishonesty rubbish etc etc... The arm itself. Well it works! at its mid point (where the springs balance) it works very very well. slow shots and running shots at this midpoint are incredibly smooth. I certainly cannot replicate those shots with my master. lifting or pushing away from this midpoint is something else. Where the master is isoelastic (no lift) the pro arm needs 2lbs lift ... the 3a/efp (i am guessing) need 5lbs .. the progear needs maybe 10lbs.. its a lot off lift and can be hard work. The reliability... well its a lot of metal... quite heavy but strong I assume. Bits do just fall off it though but they are easily fixed. Ive heard of other problems that are much more serious and with such crap customer service this would be a major issue. It will carry between anything and anything.. but whatever don t pay too much money for one! because its not worth it for the hassle. you can get a used 3a or better still a rig engineering. thomas Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks for all your information about Progear arm... Even if it seems to be a good arm, i notice that thereis a lot of problem with the Progear inc. And it s silly to buy one and have to wait an lot of month in order to receive it. The rig eng. look like a good alternative to buying a good arm with service quality! Brett Manyluk Posted March 23, 2006 Report Share Posted March 23, 2006 For all of you curious about the progear arm, do a search on the forum in the archives about that topic and you'll find all the reading material you need. For those of you who are looking for a new arm, make sure to check out the Steadyrig arm and the Baer-Bel. The Baer bel has the same performance and weight characteristics of the Pro arm and is built very tough. It is an economic choice if the Pro is too much of a stretch financially. James, Just wondering what part of Canada you're from and what system you currently have. Always good to see another dog sled pilot on the forum.
