Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted March 23, 2006 Moderators Report Share Posted March 23, 2006 "The Baer bel has the same performance and weight characteristics of the Pro arm and is built very tough." Not to start an argument or turn my nose up at any gear, but I have tried the Baer Bel arm. While it is solid & has an impressive boom range, it is NOT nearly as smooth as a PRO arm. In a nutshell, the PRO arm requires considerably less effort to boom up & down. Like with all gear, I suggest you try before you buy. Indeed you may love the Baer Bel arm and it is a lot cheaper than the PRO (it is a great value, as is the Steady Rig arm). Also consider the new arms from Tiffen. For full disclosure, I use a PRO arm. Before that a 3a, and then a Master. All the arms were great in their own ways, but I'm crazy about the PRO arm. The new arms from Tiffen (G-50, G-70) are very impressive as well.
Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted March 26, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 26, 2006 i must say i am enjoying my Silver Spring arm from Steadyrig. im used to the masters arm and i did not know how heavy the masters arm was until i picked up the silver spring. the SS is light and quiet and i dig the 3a design (makes me feel old school!) it has proven to be a great piece of kit for my extremely hard earned money.... kudos to dean and hugo! TJ Williams
Hey there, Does anybody know the name of the company (and website) that has copied the GPI PRO arm design - and before anybody jumps on my back, I own a Pro arm so I just want to take a look at the copy. Thanx, J.St.Hill Whoaaaa only in Thailand????.... has Jan ever actually delivered any products.... I ordered some stuff from him (NO not his nasty copy of georges arm) and have never gotten it. Well here in Denmark where ProGear has its World Wide Headquater (a room next to Jans mothers bedroom - I am not joking)... well he is just not popular... Him beeing a not so trustworthy supplyer, only has one major disadvantage above from the obvious. He is not a steadicam operator himself, so... he might have good idears, but knows jack shit about operating. To the answer about the arm. Actualy the arm is a very nice piece of engenering. It is smooth, a bit to the heavy side, and operates quite well. And if you Dont send him any money up front... and waite patiently for about 3-5 years - you will quite shure be happy about the ProGear arm.
