Everyone should carry spares for every fastener on their rig.

For the Pro/XCS Crowd it's simple buy a box of 10/32-3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1" and you are good to go.

As a matter of normal Maintenance I replace all my fasteners at least once every two years. often times more and instantly if I or my AC's bugger a head. I also replace my 5/32" wrench's at least twice a season or anytime the tip is rounded (you can also cut the tip off to keep it square). A little OCD you say? I've never had a fastener fail or strip in 25+ years.

Oh and if you hear a fastener "POP" when you loosen it, replace it IMMEDIATELY it's done and will only give you a headache later.

One other thing. For the record I'm not a fan of EVER using a 4-40 for ANYTHING. It's far to small to be mission critical for anything except your iPhone (and that's a 2-56)

Home Depot only had screws 6-32 and larger. Will check a local hardware store before ordering online. Thanks for the help everyone, I'd still be banging my head against the wall if I didn't have a forum of helpful people to turn to.

Try a hobby shop that deals with RC planes/helicopters

Probably a good idea, but the closest reasonable stocked hobby shop is an hour away without traffic. I just placed an order with McMaster-Carr

I'd underscore the awesomeness of McMaster-Carr. I've built Mars robots and specialized cameras for work, and use them all the time because they are incredibly good at having stuff show up next day. They also carry most of the bizarre things I need. They aren't so good on module 0.8 gears, but other than that...
