George Jacob
Hi Folks, I am the newbie on the list. New owner of a Pilot as well. How easy is it to strap on the pilot for someone like me who has a slender frama but a good pot belly? I have just tried it on once and, yes it is a challenge as the front part is straight and not curved to fit bellys like mine! (And I am using the rig with an EX3.) Any advice will help. Thanks and Happy Easter to those celebrating. George
Moderators Janice Arthur Posted April 8, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted April 8, 2012 G Welcome. U are not the first w a gut. U are going to have to go over the fine supporting materials w your rig and use your common sense to figure out a lot of this Give it lots of effort and buy the operator handbook and see what u learn Have fun learning. Moderators Janice Arthur Posted April 9, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted April 9, 2012 George; Excuse my tone if it was short with you but it seems if we crack the door on help with the newbies we get the baby bird syndrome and ask for help on every single detail that you need to do the work on yourself. Please do look at all the stuff that Tiffen sends with the rig and you'll figure it out. It really is good stuff and very complete. The book will also do wonders but we have to force you back to doing the work. The internet is too easy to force us into doing your work. Common sense will rule a lot of what you learn and we know you're a smart guy so go to it. Come back when you've spent a lot of time working out all kinds of things, not just the vest. Its hard, don't kid yourself. Good Luck, Janice
Andrew Stone
Further to what Janice has laid out, pick up a copy of the "Steadicam Operators Handbook" by Holway and Hayball, also if your Pilot did not come with the TIFFEN EFP video DVD, then you should phone up or go to the TIFFEN website and order yourself up a copy of the DVD. They do also offer a two day course designed for Pilot users that is offered up in various parts of the world.
