But I don't know the best between DSD and Walter Klassen vest (what is the Low profile arm ? and the Low -mode arm ? > I don't understand the diferences !) Could you help me to choose whith your experience and commentaries ... but don't forget : I'm french and (you could see !) not very good in english (I'm sorry) so explain to me whith simple words or if it's possible in french :P !!! Premium Members Matias Mesa Posted March 7, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2005 Ok here are the differences The low profile arm is the new style arm that goes around the harness and due to Its "low profile" its more contoured to the harness body making the harness smaller for fiting throught doorways, etc. The older style, the one I have, has more of a 90 degree angle, arround the harness. The low mode arm is shaped is a Z style so it curves arround and down. This will give you a couple more inches down for low mode operation. I don't know about DSD harness but walter's service is compared to none in the steadicam business. They really stand behing their product. Pour en revenir au harnais, une question me brule les lèvres : faut il respecter une "certaine" régularité dans sa corpulance pour ce type de harnais > je m'explique ! de par le fait que ceux ci sont fait sur mesure, sont ils suffisamment réglables pour s'agrandir ou se rétrécir un peu sans que cela ne devienne une contrainte ? je te pose cette question car en 4 mois j'imagine que tu as pu le décortiquer dans tous les sens ... Just wanted to add a note to this thread that Klassen Studios have been very very helpful; kept right on top of the order and kept me well informed through the entire process. Beautifully packed and presented vest; great instructions and a wonderful leather smell now permiating my flat! Can't wait till thurs when I get to properly put it through it paces! I myself own a Klassen harness and bought that because I once met Walter on a workshop and personally liked him a lot and was stunned by the craftsmanship he put into his products. (NOT!! forgetting his wife Jennifer who helped in any possible way.) I mean, who would have a bag made out of italian leather just as an arm bag not being an enthusiast appreciating and honoring his own work? I have made very good eyperience with Walter´s harness and am happy because he modified the vest towards my needs. The way to find out is talk to both of them and make a personal decision. I got one not too long ago, before starting on "Wildfire", and it is by far the best investment I have done gearwise. I had several questions after I got it and they were answered promptly, and Walter deals with you as you were his only client, extreme costumer service. Do yourself a favor and get one of those!!!! I feel the need to point out that Jennifer is Walter?s daughter ? not wife though. In fact, she is now a newlywed, so I?d like to offer up my congratulations. I?ve seen the wedding pictures and what a lovely bride she is. Walter cleans up remarkably well too (just dashing in a Tux). I spent a weekend in Toronto recently and Walter really is a great host. I was having a small problem with a bruised hip (just not enough fat on me) after long days in the rig, so while in the neighborhood I brought my harness by. A little brainstorming between Walter, and Kornel led to the opposite approach we had been taking. Instead of adding pads to the sensitive area, we went the other direction and cut it out to alleviate the pressure. So far, so good (first day of shooting there was too much pressure on my stomach ? like having a medicine ball thrown into me ? so I split the difference by removing one thin belly pad). A class act indeed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Klassen FX is definitely a Klass act. I also have had the same problem with the bruised hip as Alec has. Both Walter and Kornel have been extremely helpful. Walter not only gave me several different foam padding configuratrions but he has also loaned me a harness with the double ratchets for over 2 months now to see if it would help alleviate the pressure. I too like Alec need more fat! His customer service is the best, and its great that he lives only 7 minutes from me! Most of us Canadians have to send gear to the States to get it serviced/repaired so its nice to have some one like Walter so close to adjust something as important as the harness.
