I was thinking about this discussion of what something costs vs what it looks like it should cost to make...

Who cares?

If the vest works better or can make life more comfortable, then that is where i see value.

I am willing to pay extra for added value as long as it does not sacrifice dependability.

I'm personally hoping it's at least a little less than the Pro vest. If this vest rivals how I felt wearing a Pro, then a lower price point could make a difference for me.

While I'm sure tiffen would love to sell it for close to the price of a PRO vest, I don't think anyone would buy it at that price point. It's been said before, but if you compare this to a PRO vest or a WK, this looks pretty cheap. You can see that quality in a WK and PRO; this looks like something in the class of a Zephyr. I'm sure it's a great vest and I've never actually tried it, but it looks pretty cheap from what I've seen and heard. The best price point for this would be around $2,000 imho

Personally, I am far more interested in how well something works.

If its better for my spine and makes my operating better, I will pay more money for it than an Ultra, Pro or Klassen vest.

Even if it looks cheaper.

Simplicity is often the sign of great design.

I'm with you Sanjay, but my thinking is this: If it's a tie between two vests in terms of comfort and support, I will go with the one that has the lower price point. I already know how I feel in a PRO vest; I'd like to try this one to compare. In this situation, I'm only using the cost as a tiebreaker.

I'd just like to point out that thanks to posts like Sanjay and deans Tiffen has no reason NOT to gouge us on price.

I'm all for profit, but guys lets be serious there is nothing special and magical about 4 rods a chest yoke and a waist pad, there's no reason for this suit to cost what a Klassen or PRO suit is. And face it if they were smart they would want to sell more of theses than few of these, that way in the end even on a lower profit per unit they make more money

Until you see and fly with this suit let's stop with "I'll pay more" crap

Eric,

how about stopping with this "there is nothing special ..." crap.

Probably you'll negate this, but this vest has a unique design aspect and this will of course affect the price.

Tiffen will not force or gouge you, as you put it, or any other person to buy this vest if you decide that the price is to high.

Usually the price of a product is determined by supply and demand.

"I'd just like to point out that thanks to posts like Sanjay and Deans Tiffen has no reason NOT to gouge us on price."

A converse argument: Thanks to your posts Tiffen may sell the vest for a lower price or in other words you are trying to prevent that Tiffen will gouge us all.

Is it this what you are trying to achieve here?

You miss the point entirely. People are going nuts over something they haven't tried or seen in person and are already saying "I'll pay anything" and frankly that's foolish.

Let the vest get released, let people try it THEN assign a value to it.

I've seen it and I've worn it. Chris and I spent almost two hours with the new vest so Ian speaking from a

Little experience here. And for the record I like it. It needs a few things addressed but I like it.

My post was specifically in response to another post ... not making any claims.

Eric,

I don't need legal guardian and nobody here is going nuts over something. At least in this thread.

I scanned all posts again no one wrote "I'll pay anything" or the like. Some colleagues here just stated that they are willing to pay certain price for a product that equals or exceeds the price of it's competitors, given that it's performance is equal or better.

"Let the vest get released, let people try it THEN assign a value to it."

Brilliant, I'm all for it.

If you don't want us to miss your point, don't miss the point.
