Premium Members Andrew Ansnick Posted April 16, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 16, 2012 RED, the company we all love to hate, has a new compact HD transmitter/receiver on one of their cameras. It is a multicast system. Less then 10ms latency, HDMI only at this point with plans to add HD-SDI within the year. Takes 5V power from RED interface only. Maybe if enough people bug them they will open it up to our market. Projected price point under 2k.

Premium Members Andrew Ansnick Posted April 17, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 MiniCaster http://www.minicaster.com/technical-specifications-2/ Cool device and quite possibly the perfect onboard recorder for our purposes. I could care less about the ability to live stream/control an Alexa from my iPhone/iPad or any web browser, what this thing has that shows potential is it encodes H.264 and is able to simultaneously record to SD cards! This seems like an ideal solution for those of us looking for a HD onboard recorder with a cheap price tag and able to store a whole days worth of clips without swapping drives and such. Other than that it looks pretty much unbeatable price wise if you don't need more than 30p. Especially because the package includes DaVincis color correction software. Hope they have it at cinec here in germany later this year.
Premium Members John E Fry Posted April 18, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 18, 2012 Hi. Did anyone catch what HD monitor is on the new Pilot & Scout at NAB? Might be a nice upgrade monitor for older rig users - if we can't afford a Cinetronic!

I believe it was this monitor.... http://www.swit.cc/EN/product.aspx?id=276 I didn't really give it much of a look over though. Definitely nothing to write home about. I would save your money and go with the Cinetronic!
