Bryant Swanstrom
After 1.5 years of dabbling in steadicam and spending the past year focusing in on it, I still think I am not ready to post my reel for critique by the amount of talent and experience that hangs around this forum. I have cut, re-cut and then re-cut. Then, I waited for more jobs to get better footage and then re-cut some more to try and make something that I felt comfortable posting here. This morning I realized, it could be 10 years in the future and I would still be nervous posting on this forum. So here it is, my first public reel. I am still seriously thinking about what should be taken out or replaced with other footage. Thank you, Bryant Edited May 23, 2012 by Bryant Swanstrom
Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted May 23, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 23, 2012 Very nice work, Bryant. The only shot that stood out to me as being below the quality of the others is the night exterior of the little girl. Anything else would just be quibbling... Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted May 26, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 Overall not bad. I have 2 points. First, your focus puller killed a few shots. the out of focus shots bothered me a bit. I have a feeling you have a pretty fast drop time on your sled. You had quite a bit of headroom variations, sometimes giving them a severe haircut, sometimes giving it a little too much space. Your level is great, I liked the whip pan on the concert shot. Just work on the headroom stuff, eventually slow down your drop time...
