Hey,

If anyone has the 12V XLR to 3-Pin LEMO for the Zephyr, I could use it for a shoot coming up real soon. I'd be interested in buying or renting, just let me know if and when!

For reference, this is the Tiffen version of the cable I'm looking for: http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=steadicam&itemnum=078-7351-01

Thanks very much everyone!

Here's a novel thought, either buy it from Tiffen or buy it from someone like Terry West

Thanks Eric, I've already tried that route and all dealers are closed for the Holiday.

It was a last-minute need sort-of-thing, as the shoot is on Tuesday. Otherwise, I'd have placed that order from any one of the plethora of Tiffen dealers that exist online.

However, I think I've come up with a solution through an alternate approach.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Eric,

I always do my best to plan but as I'm sure you know, sometimes unforeseen things occur.

My monitor on my rig broke and when borrowing a second monitor from a friend, I needed a lightweight way to power it, ie. this cable. The cable that was included with my rig is already being used to power tha camera so therefore I needed a second one.

Did I do something wrong in trying to rectify the situation by appropriately asking to rent or purchase another cable from someone local?

I'm just not sure why I'm sensing some disdain on your part for this post. Perhaps you wouldn't mind clarifying?

Hey Adam,

i don't think you did anything wrong, though you were unclear. You did not indicate your location (to help find one locally), or the situation. It looked like you simply didn't have a standard cable. You do not have a back up of that cable, and as you found it could have come in handy. You seem willing to purchase a back up now, which is good. Do that even if you have a different solution for this situation.

Always have a backup! What happens if when you go to this shoot something happens to that cable you have? You'll be dead in the water unless you have a back up solution.

Good luck on the shoot!

Thanks Bryan. You're absolutely right. Thanks for the advice!

Much appreciated!

If you have the parts laying around, you can build a cheap backup cable using XLR and D-tap connectors, assuming your sled is the AB version...much easier to build with modest soldering skills compared to a lemo cable.

Crazy enough, I have this exact cable. I don't know how because I've never owned a rig with a size 0, 3pin on it, but nevertheless I have one. Probably never been used for the aforementioned reason. I'm in Brooklyn. I should be around tomorrow (Monday) if you want to come get it.

Cheers,

So you have one cable? if that cable goes down during the shoot what exactly are you going to say to the DP and the Producer?

You should have doubles (at least) of every cable you use or would need to lose. Most of us here have in excess of $10K in cables
