Jerry Phim
I recently just join and msg a few members here and all given good advises. Like to introduce myself. I am a photographer and recently picked up video late 2011 and geared up well early 2012 for my wedding events. It's one of those thing where, if you want it done right you gotta do it yourself! By all mean, I'm not great at writing...so go easy on me. Any, as my video search for different gears, I stumble on flycam 5000, at one point or another a few time I was almost able to get it balance. Hated, sold it and ran into Glidecam HD 4000 on youtube. Ordered one and was easier to setup, got the balance right. Since my video hardly ever use his steadicam merlin, I sold it for him and he kept the vest and arm. I ended up buying the vest and arm from him, story store, I just keep on researching how to modified the arm post and came across cheesycam. Fast forward, helped out on a shoot, the camera they gave me was to heavy for my arm and setup at the time as I moved the bottom telescoping post to the top of the gimbal so I can move the top stage up and down, and ordered a 2nd telecscoping post with clam for the bottom so I can adjust it up and down. look at a few arms on the net and found this site. Some of the setup you guys have are nice. Here is a few pics my setup...dont have pics of my new setup yet..these are a month ago.
Premium Members Wolfgang Troescher Posted June 2, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 Well... looks like my workaround solutions I did before I bought the right tool ;) My tip: don´t spend too much money and time for playthings and buy a rig from tiffen. Just my two cents. Wolfgang

Jerry Phim
Today, I successfully drilled and spliced the hdmi cables. Gave it enough slack for the cable if I move stage up or down as well as the bottom. I know it's not like the real deal, but it's balance. I hope to buy the a real one end of next year once I save up enough...for now this is fun. Learned so much by doing this, I will take the workshop and buy the book. Premium Members Stephen Wymer Posted June 16, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 16, 2012 Looks pretty similar to my first rig. Great for practicing the fundamentals, just don't develop any bad habits because of the Glidecam's limits. I think it was only 6 months with my HD-4000 before the gimble went out of alignment. Looks good for a starting out. Just practice, save, and shoot for the real deal. Makes a world of difference. Stephen
