Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted June 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 Oh and the new Cinetronic will have improved weather-proofing, 1800 nits (increased from 1500), modularity and upgradability to all future incarnations, etc. How do you improve weather-proofing? It's either weather proof or it isn't. I was under the impression the first generation monitors could withstand all but submersion. If I recall correctly, the first gen needed to have the back ports covered to be weather proof. The new gen should withstand flan assault from all sides(including the new 160 proof flan from Jumbo's).
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted June 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 My point was more of a semantic one more than anything else. You can't make something "more proof". "Proof" is a binary term - something either stops the weather, or it doesn't. There aren't degrees of proof, and therefore proof cannot be improved. The proper term would be "resistant". I had strict English teachers.
Premium Members David M. Aronson Posted June 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 There's more weather proofing on it so it's more weather resistant than the first gen. Happy?
Premium Members nick franco Posted June 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 Will the more weather proofing make it more unique?
Premium Members Thomas English Posted June 7, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 Is there a photo anywhere of this mystery cinetronic and its swim trunks?
Premium Members Peter Hoare Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 Well??? What was there to see? Anything really good? For those of us who were not able to be there, please tell all... Grayson Grant Austin, SOC Peter Hoare showed off his new Axis system (visible here) with a new transmitter and receiver and his new HPM-1 digital motor. The responsiveness was remarkably fast (that's just in my opinion, I'm sure seeing it will impress anyone) and affordable at about $1800? Standard digital motor connections, works with Preston or BDR. Hi Wlliam, Not sure where you got 1800 from, that may be the pound price of our basic system converted into dollars. The Axis1 with the motor, cables and the peli case will be about $5000, but our US sales and service agent, Illya Friedman at Hot Rod Cameras will set the final price for units sold into the US. You were right about motor compatibility, our RX unit will control any digital motor (although you wont achieve the same top speed as you see with our motor) and our motor works with other digital systems, tested with Preston, Varizoom, Cmotion, and the BDR. Thanks, Pete.
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 Peter, I meant that the HPM-1 would sell individually for $1800, or that was what I thought I was told for the motor bought individually. If that's incorrect or unset I apologize.
Premium Members Peter Hoare Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 Whoops, I misread your post. Yes, your right, 1800 dollars is the target for the motor alone. Thanks, Pete.
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 No worries, my post was ambiguous. Great price, great motor.
Premium Members Peter Hoare Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 Haven't confirmed 100 percent yet, but the price will probably include the gears, clamps, cable and a nice little Peli 1060 clear case with a custom insert. Pete.
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted June 8, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 "Degrees of proof"? Well, at some point I switched from 80 Proof gin to 90 Proof in my Martinis, but eventually switched to Vodka (it's easier to handle the Forum). Premium Members William Demeritt Posted June 8, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2012 I hear it's double-secret-lava proof, as well as gravity repellant. So now that we've witnessed how annoying rumors can be, how about we wait until Chris introduces the next generation of the monitor. Apparently it'll be an "upgrade" of some kind from the 1st gen, other than that, let's let him unveil it. He's one person developing this thing, and we've already seen the timeframe push back. When it's ready, he'll announce it. He showed the new housing at the Stabilizer expo VERY briefly, it looks spiffy and says "Cinetronic". I promise you, LA operators or current owners worldwide are not privy to reliable information about the next generation. We're not holding out on you guys, so the rumor mill does very little to help. Can we continue discussing products companies unveiled, announced or released at CineGear?
