Advice on balancing cheap barebones steadicam?

Hello there, I'm about as new as you can get to steadicams. I've had my T3i for a while now, an recently picked up a few things for it, including what seems to be the best of the dirt cheap steadicams, if there is such a thing, It's called the Kamerar Video Stabilizer, you can buy it off of ebay, and there is a review on CheesyCam.

The design is similar to most DIY builds, like the silver flyer and whatnot, but it uses a beefier joint then the traxxis kind, and has a full metal stage and some nice weights. Problem is, it's incredibly hard to balance with my light t3i.

I know that this is common and it can take a very long time to get used to balancing them, but I could use some help. I just want some step by step instructions on balancing, how to start, what's most important (Weight, camera position, gimbal placement etc.)

It seems that whenever I get close to balancing it, the whole unit will spin slowly back and forth.

Doubt that anyone here has any knowledge of your unit, which is not designed for, nor used by, professionals. Suggest you try posting in the comments at Cheesycam.com or try Cinema5D.com. Good luck and hope you are able to get it sorted out.
