Premium Members Adam Smith Posted August 5, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 5, 2012 Hello All, I'm currently looking at upgrading "SLIGHTLY" from a Pilot VLB to a Flyer but I'm having a problem identifying the model of Flyer that I am looking at. The seller is not sure of the model of Flyer either but has provided a serial number which ends in an "S" (if that means anything). 3 calls to Tiffen, no answer. Anybody have any idea if a serial number look up exists? or if there are ways to identify between the 3 or 4 different Flyers that came out? Thanks for your time, and your sharing of knowledge. This forum is amazing!
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted August 5, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 5, 2012 Pictures would help. If you care which model it is, you must know the features of the model you want. Does this one have those features? The 1st and 2nd gen Flyers are essentially the same. Both are 12v only with aluminum center post of fixed length, both cary a 15lb camera payload (as advertised) The 2nd gen arm is all black. IIRC, the 1st gen arm is gray and black. The Flyer LE has a carbon fiber extendable center post and is 12/24v capable. It can carry a 19lb camera payload (as advertised) There are other differences, but that should narrow it down for you. Premium Members Adam Smith Posted August 5, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Thanks Brian, I did some further research and found that this could be an MK-V upgrade of a flyer. Not sure of the model yet. Thanks for your input. This was very helpful. :D Edited August 5, 2012 by Adam Smith
