Elliot Gabor
Will be using a SD pilot rig with a C300 and Nanoflash setup. I don't believe C300 has an SD monitoring output but was wondering if anyone is familiar if the Nanoflash can downconvert an HD signal for SD monitoring (while still recording to HD). Otherwise I think I will be foreced to get a HD to SD downconverter or just buy an HD monitor and replace the standard SD Marshall. Thanks in advance! Premium Members Charles Papert Posted October 12, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 Nanoflash does not downconvert. At this stage it seems like the smart money would be to buy an HD monitor.
Premium Members Kareem La Vaullee Posted October 12, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 The Canon C300 has a SD video output, no need for a downconverter to use it with your SD monitor. You have to go into the camera's settings to get it from the "SYNC OUT" BNC port. Here's the part about it in the camera's manual : You can download the manual here : EOS C300 Brochures & Manuals
Elliot Gabor
Good to know but i'm afraid we will be shooting in 24p so not an option.
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted October 14, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 14, 2012 24p should actually be 23.976fps
Elliot Gabor
Yes, that's true. I have a feeling thats what the manual is reffering too. I doubt the C300 records non standard NTSC frame rates.
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted October 15, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 15, 2012 Canon C300 offers both 24p and 23.98 frame rates. Unless your project is intended for projection, it should be at 23.98 and thus the downconverter would work.
