Premium Members Mike Gailing Posted January 26, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 26, 2013 The latest firmware update provides a fix for PsF compatibility issues with Transvideo monitors and others.
Premium Members Jameson Johnson Posted February 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 8, 2013 I notice that the Bolt webpage now lists a 6-28v input - did I miss a comment in the 100+ of this thread, or is this an updated version? Premium Members Kar Wai Ng Posted February 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 8, 2013 Must be an updated version. I've noticed their specs have kept changing over the past few months; the battery life specs have decreased and the power draw on the TX and RX have gone up. I suspect that these are just revisions of specs to better reflect actual performance rather than hardware changes. The voltage range change though must be a hardware change. Confirmation from Mike Gailing would be great. Would also love to know if existing Bolts can be upgraded to accept the larger range. Would be great to be able to power the TX off an RS port without an inline regulator.
Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted February 10, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2013 I would really like to know about the new voltage capability. If this was addressed, it needs to be extended to all early customers.
Premium Members Mike Gailing Posted February 10, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2013 The updated specs do reflect real world use of the Bolt. We are anticipating a new PCB down the line that will offer a larger voltage range than the current model. I do not have any more information available at this time - will keep you updated as I learn more.
Premium Members Mike Gailing Posted February 10, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 10, 2013 And to clarify, the specs have reverted to the original 6-16V on the website since that is what is being sold. The 6-28V was a typo that was supposed to be for the Receiver, which has always been 6-28V. I do not know what the voltage range will be for any updated versions in the future. Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted February 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 So what do most folks use as a nice bright monitor you can attach a bolt receiver to and power it all with an Anton bauer batt, hand the whole thing to a director and walk away? ANy particular monitor brands/set ups? post pictures please. I'm looking to buy a bolt and a monitor and put it all together for a C300 job coming up in the next week. Camera will be on the rig for 10 days straight, Kamio ringlight, and probably the canon 16-35 and the 24-70 F2.8 as lenses for the project. Thoughts... I have a couple of DP6's (older model) and they are perfect for onboard or directors monitor. Great sunhoods available for them. "Disclaimer" I haven't seen the DP7 yet, but I'm planning on ordering one.
Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2013 I use this low-cost but solid and versatile set of handles with plenty of receiver mount points: http://www.alzovideo.com/alzo-transformer-dslr-rig.htm I pair this with a 6.5" transflective Marshall HDMI monitor with AB mount, since I have a Paralinx Arrow.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted February 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2013 I have been using this new ikan monitor cage. It's really rugged. http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted February 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2013 I've been eyeballing that cage for a while, happy to see it's out now.
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted February 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 15, 2013 Have been scouring the net, and I came across this Marshal Monitor to use in conjunction with the Teradek receiver. Marshal V-LCD 70MD with the 3G-HD/SDI option $790 at BH Add the V-Pac-DC adapter to use AB Batts $60 at BH, add a Sunhood $18.99 at BH and I think I'm golden, I'll just have to make sure that AB plate has a P Tap output on it and get one of the above mentioned Rigs to attach the monitor to and hand off to the Director and I'm good......I hope. Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 15, 2013 I'd go with the Ikan...only a little more than the Alzo unit but looks more robust. It wasn't available when I bought mine. The MD series monitor is great from the looks of things...however you need one of the $999 versions to get the HDSDI (the one with input and output, not the one with two outputs). Also, the AB mount should not be an extra-cost option, you should be able to order a version with that mount. B&H's website looks confusing on that point. Edit: caution, it looks like the 7" Marshall MD series monitors may not have a compatible Anton Bauer plate...only V Mount and small battery plates. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted February 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 15, 2013 The ikan cage has been doing really well on set with one of my new Arrow + receivers. Here's a picture.
