Zephyr Gimbal clamp very stiff

Hi,

The tool free clamp on the gimbal is very stiff, I removed the screw and it seems it is the silver pivot in the clamp itself that does not want to move.

Any solution?

hi there.

 

i had the same issues last time.

 

use an allen key and remove the entire gimbal screw from the other side. lubricate the screw well with a silcon spray kind of thing.

 

place it back it should work like a charm.

 

do take note not to tighten the allen screw too tightly. lock your gimbal clamp first, tighten a few notches, feel the tightness, release the gimbal clamp and snap it back on, calibrate the strength from there. it shouldnt take too much effort to tighten the clamp.

Yes, good adjustment advice. But if you don' t have the improved gimbal clamp, it's just a matter of time before you have a serious clamp failure...the failure rate was very high so they redesigned the clamp. Call Tiffen ASAP as Peter advises. You should get this as a warranty replacement.
