The Geo arms

Garrett, does the G50 have the same performance characteristics as the G70 ( aside from weight and load difference)? I want to build a rig for the light film and HD cameras being ordered by rental houses in the coming months. I really like the flyer/24v, is the G50 comparable to the flyer arm in design?

Gents--

I just demoed the G70 down at the SOA Workshop.

WOW! I tried the G70 on my vest with my sled and a practice cage setup to mimic a 35mm sound camera and I must say give me one now!

Smooth like butter off a duck's a#$%^& More boom range and better mounting hardware.

I must have this arm.

Currently, I own an Ultra and a 3A Gold Spring arms. Both have their strengths and applications, but the G70 is what I must have.

No clunking, no bottoming out, no stiction just smoooooooooth.

Well, Frank, when can I have it?

Best,

I stopped by the workshop too (thanks everybody!) and tried the G-70.

Very impressive; it is what everyone is saying. I think my favorite feature is the ability to adjust the iso-elasticity, which I see being very useful on vehicle mount and running shots (add a little resistance to the arm so it is not so floppy in these situations).

Very well done, GB, JH, and Tiffen.

Cheers,

Hi Everyone

On behalf of Garrett Brown, Jerry Holway and Tiffen we thank you for the very nice comments on the G-70 Extended Range Stabilizer Arm. We intend to produce the Arm but only after extensive testing throughout the Steadicam Community. Those Operators wanting to test the arm and willing to give feedback should contact us.

Next Monday (see seperate post) Garrett will be at our office in Glendale, California to have a Technology Showing of the new G-70 Arm. You will be able to ask about any part of the design criteria and try first hand the arm you have all been waiting for. As you can tell from the various Post, you will be pleased.

A little information about the arm.

It uses a new extrusion design that produces a very light weight arm. Coupled with the Titanium Springs the G-70 Arm is a little over 10 pounds and the G-50 about 8 pounds. The Unique spring within a spring design of the G-70 is quite unique. Both arms feature "Geo" plus "Ride" control. The exclusive No-Tools adjustment apply to both Weight and Ride controls. Either arm may be fitted with any current or previous stabilizer rig Post size for instant use. The post size may be changed to be used with various rigs owned by one operator. The current price of the G-50 Arm is $9,950.00 fitted with the standard Steel Arm Vest Interface. The same arm supplied with No-Tools Titanium Arm/Vest Connector is $10,600.00. The G-50 Arm is available for Immediates Shipment. No price has been set for the G-70 Arm.

We are very proud of both the new G-50 and G-70 arm designs. The G-50 is shipping with new Archer and Clipper2 systems worldwide. I am sure you will soon hear reports from those operators. We will have demonstrator systems in the Glendale Showroom for you to stop by and try at any time.

We look forward to seeing you Monday, October 17, 2005 between 5:30 and 7:30 PM to spend time with Garrett and both G-50 and G-70 Extended Range Stabilizer Arms.

I've got one also. What's great about it, is that it's very lightweight, but can still carry heavy cams. It can also be set to shoot with very light cams. It's got a geo-elastic turn button function that's wonderful. I'm very impressed. The boom ranhe is also good, about 80cm. I love that arm. I want to make love to that arm, hmmm...I need to get out more...

finaly i've order one G50, it arrive in 3 weeks :) :D :) :D

can you confirm that the post fit in a master gimbal ?

it's larger than the 3A . if it fits on the ultra , then it goes on the master without any adaptor .

Hey krashtest.

I use the G-50 on a Archer. And the post on my G-50 arm is 13mm. Don't remember what the Ultra has. I seem to remember it being a bit thicker. I might be wrong though. But on thursday I'll be with a friend of mine who has a Ultra. I can check it out for you.

I'm using the arm with a new Clipper 2 sled (3-section post, ultrabrite, tiltstage, nice!)

The arm post diameter on my arm is 18.9mm and seems to be the same as the ultra/master.

One downside to the arm post is that it's pretty cumbersome to exchange it to a longer (optional) type as it it secured by a very small screw hidden beneath another screw. I think one option is to just have the screws removed permanently if you are into exchanging often. The arm post quick release/adjust design of the Ultra/G70 is much nicer.
