Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted February 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 Hey, does anyone have any good advice for mounting the digital level for Marshall monitors on a Zephyr?

Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 13, 2013 I use a clamp similar to this on the monitor tube, right behind the post. http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-74000-1-25-L-Bracket-Twin/dp/B004TXS0SS/ref=pd_sim_auto_2

Andrew Stone
Mark your solution is relatively unobtrusive. Did you use a Manfrotto bit to attach the level sensor to the PIAA bracket/collar?
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 Hi, I like Alan's solution, but before buying it, does anyone has another solution? Still interested it Mark's setup details. And also what position are you putting it so that it reads the X and Y axis properly? Thank's all. V. Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 Marshall makes a digital level! I wonder where XCS is. I miss my PDL level. Where in the Marshall website is the level displayed? Thanks Jamie

Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 http://www.marshallmonitors.com/products/accessories/V-LCD-HI/index.html The level is only compatible with some marshall monitors (not universal) Â I bought mine today, and I'm a little disappointed by the delay of the reading, plus my unit has a weird glitch, with the sled docked and untouched the arrow on the screen will sometimes jump to the right, reading a +90 degree angle then jump back to it's normal reading (around +-1 degree). Plus after a bit the readings disappear from the screen and I need to unplug/replug the device... Â I also realized the box has to be placed flat and horizontally, and not vertically along the pole as I would like...
Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 Andrew and Victor: I rotated the bracket 90 degrees to line up with the tube clamp, then ran a 1/4-20 into the Marshall unit, mounting it vertically. I disable the vertical axis readout and just use the horizontal readout. Â That's why I like Alan's solution...easy to mount the unit flat. Â My PIAA bracket is a discontinued model, not exactly like the pictured one...So I don't know if the "rotate" trick works on the new ones. Â Re: not being universal, the H.I. seems to be compatible with all current Marshalls (although the new modular series is not mentioned...maybe the website is just not updated??). Previous models had hardware limitations apparently, that don't allow the firmware to be updated to a version that supports the H.I. Â You can limit the delay by turning the sensitivity up all the way in the menu. The unit is limited...no motion compensation and even at max sensitivity it doesn't compete with high-end systems. I find it useful in some situations but not in others. Glad I have it but it's definitely a low-end solution.
Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 I have had very poor luck with the level. The mini USB used to connect to the monitor is very poor and failed on me on 2 units. Gave up on this...
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted March 9, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 My USB port broke of the board on my monitor after day three of using it! Daniel, what did it cost you to fix the port?

Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 put a call into Greg Bubb about his and have not heard back from him. For now, his PDL is the best and why many of us still use downconverters
