Slightly unrelated, but I know that a few friends of mine who are Jib owner/ops would be very interested to see a larger version of this screen with all of its viewing and exposure benefits made available for their use. I imagine you must have that in the back of your head too, Chris.

I know a jib op as well who has expressed much interest in the (stil?) upcoming 12", and I passed that along to Chris who already had it in the works for I believe that very reason. So I imagine that will be on the way.

using a back mounted vest I find the arm position can hit the monitor. I really don't want to go any wider than my nebtek, which is approx the same as the new Cinetronic (in dimensions only, not picture or build quality!!). The yoke seems to add another inch (making it nearly 2.5" wider than the TB6) so I will patiently await 5.6" perfection. I do scale down the image on my current monitor so I do not have to scan the frame -- some old dogs cannot learn new tricks!

Hey Ron,

If the size of the width matters that much to you come by the shop and we can see what might be an alternative mounting option, you can mount off the top holes so you dont increase the width at all.

Mike

Thanks Mike...I may eventually take you up on this. I thought about making a plate with an ab mount on the back and a standard monitor spud on the bottom, then I could mount/screw/velcro/bubble gum/glue any monitor to it. I already bang the side of the 7.5" wide nebtek (the gen2 is 7.4") and I shrink down the image...so I might as well be using a smaller one which will suit both my needs.

with regards to monitor width and back mounted vests....

Is it possible to reduce the yoke width by removing the plastic nob tie downs and going with regular allen screws with a lower profile?

something where you gave up tool free adjustability , for width saving?

Those of you that have a Ver1 or ver2, are you adjusting tilt much during the day oe is it a set it and forget proposition?

ive yet to see in person so forgive me if this is of base.

Had a chat about the knobs (easy, Ron) with a buddy just recently. We briefly entertained the idea of removing them in exchange for the simple screws. The problem that may then arise is if you ever reach down to adjust the angle of the monitor for any reason - or even push any of the buttons for that matter. The design of the yoke, with the knobs and their threads in opposition to one another, can cause one of them to become loose beyond the point of grabbing, causing the monitor to then swing freely. Not a big problem if you have a tools free knob right there to tighten. This could definitely be a problem if you then needed a tool to re-tighten. Just something to keep in mind.

I don't need to pivot my monitor unless I'm going to low mode regardless of version. The viewing angle is exceptional from every angle even with a direct mirror of the sun in it. I like it tabled flat but that is personal preference.

Probably true about the viewing angle. Even if the screen is visible, if I'm doing a very high shot, say, where I changed out my arm post, I'd probably reposition things just so my eyes are more square to the screen. Even a quick need to be boomed up a lot will often make me want to tweak a little. This tweaking is just personal preference, but I doubt I'm the only one with this preference. Also, unless the new monitors are touchscreen or the yoke is differently designed, just pushing the buttons often applies enough torque to "unlock" the monitor from its position making it swing freely. Because of this, I'm frequently readjusting throughout the day, and am happy to have a tools free solution.
