Premium Members Adam Smith Posted March 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 Hey everyone, I just sold my back up Steadicam Pilot. Looking over gear I noticed the IDX 2 Channel Quick Charger will only charge one battery at a time. I was thinking this may be a fuse problem? If so how the heck do I open that fuse box? If not the fuse box then what? Doesn't make sense that both sides will charge, just not simultaneously. Any suggestions would be very helpful. -Adam
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted March 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 Are you sure you have the simultaneous charger and not the sequential? They make one of each and they look the same
Premium Members Adam Smith Posted March 18, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 Wow, did not realize that. Thanks Eric! I'm an AB guy. I just figured all of these chargers are simultaneous. Why make them Sequential? I guess the first battery would charge faster? Interesting. -Adam
Premium Members Zachary Shannon Posted March 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 Hi Adam, My name is George and I am part of the Customer Service Department at IDX. Thank you for your inquiry and I will be able to further assist you with your questions. In relation to checking the fuse, it will depend on which charger you are currently using. If you are using our most current NP-1 style battery charger, the JL-2PLUS, you can check the fuse by propping out the fuse box on the back of the charger. The fuse box will be located in between the AC input and the power switch. The fuse box can be opened/pulled out by using a flat-head screw driver and pulling the box out via the small indentation/tab on the side of the box. Also, in relation to charging two batteries at the same time, as Eric previously mentioned, if the unit you are currently using the JL-2PLUS charger, the JL-2PLUS is a sequential 2-channel charging system. Therefore, it would only be able to charge one channel/battery at a time. Please let me know if you have any further questions. If you would like, you can also reach me directly at my email: George@idx.tvThank you! Premium Members Zachary Shannon Posted March 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 Hi Adam, In relation to my previous post, I would also like to note that checking the fuse is also the same on IDX's 2-channel V-Mount battery chargers, the VL-2PLUS and VL-2SPLUS.Also, in relation to the VL-2PLUS and the VL-2SPLUS chargers: The VL-2PLUS is a sequential charger, and will only charge one battery at a time. The VL-2SPLUS is a simultaneous charger and will charge two batteries at the same time.If you have any other questions, please provide me with the charger you are currently using and I can help further assist you. Thanks again!- George
