We keep meaning too but we cant make enough to keep up with complete axis1 kits, so have not had any spare motors to sell as singles. We are working on it though.

If I do build this motor bench mark tester, do you think other manufacturers would be willing to let us test them for benchmarking?

Fair enough. Fulfilling your full orders is of course the priority! I just know that there has been nothing but praise for the whole system, and especially the motor.

I am not sure about them sending you motors to test, but I am sure you would be able to find people to send you or let you borrow motors to test. I imagine there are enough ops in the UK or even just the London area that would have all the preston motors and the two hedens. I would certainly be interested in that measurement. (not only torque, but also some way of doing speed? perhaps a mark to mark time on the same size lens movement?)

I spoke with one of the electromechanical engineers at Element Technica that was one of the core designers of the "WMD". He says the system outperforms the latest Preston, and that you can buy an Element Technica branded system that's friendlier to non-Red cameras (includes LANC, for example.)

I was bummed to hear that the motors will be Red branded only. I am seriously considering buying one. With M-One service being out of the picture, I'll want another motor around for the day it finally gives out.

But in all seriousness, I haven't used it, and I don't think I have enough experience with Preston's to be the best judge of its performance. What I took from the conversation with the ET engineer was: If you are very proud of your product, and can say without batting an eye that it outperforms the market-leader, then it is worth checking out.
