Artificial Horizon module

Hi all,

I just wanted to give a quick review to Tiffens new Artificial Horizon Module. Just know I'm not working for them nor am I getting any compensation from them.

I was fortunate enough to be able to demo the unit for the past couple weeks and I have to tell you it is light years better than anything else I have seen on the market. Including my own internal level digitally put through my Transvideo monitor.

The side to side bubble movement is gone when excellerating and decellerating. There are many settings for different configurations based on your preference. Mounting and powering it was a snap.

I have no idea how much they are going to ask for this unit but I told them I don't want to give it back and Robert Orf if your reading this heres your notice, your going to have to pry it off my steadicam.

=)

@ Rich, thanks, haven't seen this yet, and I don't know if it responds the same as the Tiffen one, but as I read it, it said as an option for those monitors which makes me think its only in the monitor therefore having to level your monitor to the sled and its not representing your sled horizon . . . . .?

@ Alfeo, it can be mounted anywhere you would like it, I hard mounted it on the two lower battery rods, level with the bottom of the sled. It could be put on the monitor rods or directly on the base below the post or just in front of the post, via velcro or post clamp, Sorry I forgot to snap some picts but I will =)

@ Thomas, it will work with any sled monitor combo, as for the release date I have no idea, I would hope soon, I know I gave them some suggestions and they are already working them into the new software update.

Rob showed me the horizon unit on a show here in Miami I visited him on. Very nice!. However when i pulled out my phone to snap a picture he poked me in both eyes and flew him and the rig away to a restricted area.

The sensor is small and can be placed anywhere. Directly under the sled seemed like a great place.
