Has anyone used the Dionic HD yet? This is from their website:

I have been using the dionic 160 for over two yrs now and love it. The size and wt are identical to what they now call the hd. The wh you listed is very close to where anton bauer told me my batts were rated.

 

They are pricey, but basically two batts in one case...at least that's how I looked at them. I wanted more weight in the back to balance my tb6 pushed farther out.

great batt if you want the weight to balance the monitor or to shorten post.

be aware of shipping restrictions, lots of FAA worrying lithium

I have 4, unless things have changed I can put them in their own case to bring on passenger flights. I have a small pelican with 4 slots just for them...but been shipping via fedex everytime I travel so have never done it.

The AB website says the dionic 160/ HD is not allowed to be checked or carried as hand luggage.

I'm prepping to fly to new zealand for two weeks and I'm hand carrying two HCx's based on the info I got of AB website.

They also recomend that you ship the HCD's in their own seperate box FWIW.

Hmmm, something may have changed in the past few yrs as far as checking them on? Who knows...I would just leave them at home if I were flying for just 1 day or shooting at multiple locations requiring a lot of flying. I usually do longer term projects so it's been no biggie. I do put them in the separate case when shipping.

So you can send them through a freight company but can't check it in your bag. it will eventually end up in the same compartment in the plane though, no?

I was originally going to air freight two dionic 160' s

freight company giving a quote freaked out about them and started asking for saftey sheets etc on them. Different class and section of the FAA guidlines. they wanted them shipped thru a hazardous shipping company...... I just pulled them out of package and went with Hcx's so that I could hand carry.

I can't explain it but the AB website does a good job of listing all the options.

I happened to check today because I'm flying tomorrow. The current rules (since 2008) on Lithium Ion, as I understand it, is as follows:

 

1. Can't check them. Must be in carry-on baggage.

2. Anything up to 100-watt hours (which would include Dionic 90's and Dionic HC's) you can carry on as many as will fit in your carry-on baggage.

3. Anything between 100 and 160 watt-hours you can carry on a total of three....one installed on a camera and two "spares."

hmmm. Glad I ship. Seems like a pain to travel a lot with anything bigger than a hc90.

Reminds me of an "incident" some co workers and I did about 91',...a coworker is headed to the Northeast to visit family, and said coworker is getting things ready, we placed an un shelled Anton bauer battery ( just cardboard tubes with the cells and wires ) in the carry on., Needless to say the story when this collegue returned was half funny and half scary, no flights were missed and no one was arrested, but there was a scolding and the Anton bauer parts were retained by airport security. We were properly scolded as well.. Today, it would have made the news and someone would be fined and possibly arrested.

I was never lucky enough to have something that looked like a bomb placed in my carry on...just a Billy Doll by an unnamed NY 1st ac. I found it while in line for security. Awesome sauce.
