Premium Members Charles Cowper Posted June 23, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2013 Hi does anyone know what the font used in the steadicam logo is called? Cheers :)
Premium Members Tom Wills Posted June 23, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2013 It isn't a font - it is a graphic logo, especially with the connection between the characters. Doubt you'll find anything that will replicate it exactly, though its very simple to recreate for a good graphic designer. What are you planning to use it for? Premium Members Charles Cowper Posted June 23, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2013 Getting labels made up for boxes and thought to use the same font.....super geeky! :)
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted June 23, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2013 Not Geeky at all, it's a cool font/logo, I'm torn between the original Steadicam logo and the current one. Not sure if this is/was the case with Steadicam when it was with Cinema products or now with Tiffen, but many companies have Fonts created to match their logo's for them, and purchase the fonts outright so that they never end up in the publicly available arena, those fonts are then protected by various trademark and registered filings, ( Procter and Gamble fiercely protect their product fonts) Making it difficult to find, but I'm sure like Tom wrote a good graphics person can make it. I found a "similar enough" font to match the PELICAN in order to personalize my cases with a similar looking font. I've often wanted a peel and stick Steadicam logo, Hey Tiffen! Sell them!

Tony Deemer
We had to take a typography course in film school. I have always remembered how detailed fonts were and have never looked at them the same way. Here is a way to look up any font you may be trying to match. http://www.identifont.com I ran through the site and found this as the closest match for STEADICAM - of course it is not with the triangular "A" but photoshop is handy. http://www.identifont.com/identify?28+%20+G39+6ZR+J+2BR+9J+8J+8HI+Z+8F+DG+8N+1KS+1U6+7P+7S+7W+75+4A+6X4+53K+8B+6X8+79+1KI+1QY+7G+9Z
