Excess Luggage personal loading

So I have had it a few times where I am chatting to the girl behind the counter and managed to convince her to have one of the guys come up from the aircraft loading area and collect all 15 flightcases and take it down on his special trolley to load it directly into the aircraft shipping container. This clearly minimises lost luggage. It goes direct from counter to container via a scanner.

I would like to refine this technique of getting someone up from the hold. Anyone have any further techniques on this. Some counter girls look at me blankly like its impossible and others are like yeah cool!

The other thing is scanner stickers. So the main label goes on and the little scanner stickers go elsewhere on the flightcase incase the main label gets lost or the scanner misses it. Thing is on two recent trips I have had checkout girls refuse to put the little stickers on and also tell me not to do it because it will mess things up. Are they just wrong? There is a gap between the checkout and loading so I can imagine in these big systems they could easily be wrong. Anyone know more about it.

Thomas,

I travel to 12 countries and 5 continents all in 3 weeks, twice a year. That's roughly a day and a half in each country, that equates to a boat load of flights. My segment of the show only travels with 6 cases, (Peli 1650s) but the rest of the tech for the show travels with a total of 40 cases and we just check them like any other bags, make sure the tags are complete and those extra little scanner stickers you mentioned my cases have about a hundred of those things all over them . . . . .LOL I was just saying I need to clean those things off because they will never know which one to scan if my stuff ever gets lost. . . . LOL . . . .

So the moral of the story, this is my 11 season on this traveling show and to date, knock on wood nothing has been lost.

Granted, the other day the luggage fees came to $35,000.00 US but thats the cost of doing business

Have faith check your bags and hit the lounge.

BUT for the record your way sounds way better, unfortunately we never have the time to make those requests

Think it depends on who your flying with and through which countries. I know being 50% of the time Dubai based that if I start demanding my big black heavy cases go straight onto the plane and not via the checkin belt, not only will my cases not get on but I may be taken to a little room with less the friendly questions being asked. Traveling through the GCC at least a dozen times I have been stopped during boarding to go out and identify my bags and have to explain to them what each piece is. Most of he time delaying the plane taking off.

But I guess they are just being safe.

Possible soloution.

Maybe with a system like this installed insurance companies will lower their price?

Omg! This looks amazing? Wonder how it works with international travels when you change to another phone carrier...

Rob V, buy one of these Trakdots and let us know how it does when your on the global run about show. if its as good as it says it is, Im sure the Steadicam community will be able to arrange purchasing like a 100 of these and maybe they give us a substantial discount, or maybe free yearly monitoring.
