Who has the best shipping/return policy? Im not looking to return it but I want to make sure it's an easy process if needbe, main reason I dont buy from local vendors here is they would make me jump thru all kinds of hurdles if I wanted to return something. Steve Fracol had his Samurai at one of our Stabilizer Workshops and it was pretty sweet. They are crashed a lot during long hours use and long take. I wrote "they" because I had 6 of them. They all behave the same. If you have money, go for the PIX. The most reliable and robust. That is what I bought it for but it's 25% too big in every dimension.. at least for me. At least it's been a great workhorse as a rental on other projects. Steve Fracol seemed to be pretty happy with his Samurai original and the form factor was near perfect. Did you have specific experience with the Samurai original or the Blade as well? Thank you! All will at some point with in the 5hr long show freeze. My work around is not to keep them on until 10min before the show start. Stop and start every 1 hr or power off between takes. I'm happy that I already get rid of them. 3 months ago, I had to spend $3000.00 to pay for file repairing to recover the footages. A friend of mine doing rental. If you rent 1 Samurai from him, he will give you 2! Just in case the other one fail! I recommend using the Blackmagic Shuttle. Cheap, light weight, and very reliable. Pix has better LCD monitor. It is rec triggered only by Red, and sony and time odd trigger if you are not in running time ode. It has zero on screen display and it cannot format the drive itself (you need to do it on a computer). Other than that, it's a great reliable cheap tool. Plus their customer assistance is not bad at all. Edit. Oh and it has an amazing trick. It does full cross conversion HDMI and SDI both ways! Plus it's another option for Paralinx owners to feed the transmitter. I still haven't found an useful situation for the Rec Trigger. I can't get SDI flags to work on the Epic and every Alexa job I do uses TOD rolling time code. So for now I have to hit the button every take. I drilled and tapped my housing and sandwiched male & female AB plates on both sides, so now it lives on my sled monitor. That helps make these light, little LCD's more DB friendly. It also keeps the strain on the flimsy SDI adapters minimal. For me, it's simplicity. Very linear. No menus to navigate, less to go wrong and cause distractions on set. The buttons have a good mechanical feel and the thing is cut out of a block of aluminum so it's rugged. Out of sight, out of mind. I don't need another screen. No. What I meant on that post is that the longer it is powered on the more chance it will be frozen. The Blackmagic can continuously record 1080i Apple ProresHQ for more than 4hrs. It can be longer but SSD capacity is only 500Gb. But, I use to stop and restart recording every 2 hrs to break the files into smaller size in case it is edited in Avid system. The Blackmagic can be powered all day long. I have zero problem from all 8 of mine as well as my other 2 PIXs. The Samurai original and Blade, I recommend not to record any take longer than 15min.
