F65 - power question!?

Have a job from Monday running a f65, couple of questions to ask as I have not run this system (apart from yesterday's gear check)

My rig-

GPI PRO cinelive + gen4 base (with 3rd battery pos)

Cinetronic gen2

Anton Bauer dionic HC

Teradek bolt

Bartech

I was reading how the cinetronic back feeds power to the sled and I am wondering about the adverse effects of having 3 batteries in parrallel on the one circuit on that sled/monitor combo..

We will be shooting off speed and I had heard about the enormous power consumption of the camera, especially shooting off speed.

I have 14 batteries + 3 chargers (tm4, tq2, 2702)

Shooting in a remote desert location

Also shooting in low mode and have the sled totally extended with 4 batteries attached and still not able to get the gimbal too far from the stage, any ideas without having to add more weight to the bottom

Any other tips or advise about shooting with this camera?

Also attaching the teradek, would it be ok running on the base and not the camera, easier for me to power and in an remote area, nothing cept open space, no rf interference, or keeping it at the highest point in the system is best?

Cheers,

Justin Besser

Use F-bracket with longer arm post (12") to get the camera closer to the ground.

I think a supper post is best. The fully extended cinelive is still too short to put that camera close to the ground.

Shooting in the desert this time of the year you need more battery than 14.

Last month, I used 20 of them.

The camera and recorder swallow 100w.

The heat of the desert also makes your battery drain out faster than normal.

Cheers,

Ken Nguyen.

If the camera is 100w

And the batteries are rated at 90w/hr

That should mean I get slightly less than an hour with a battery at that load, obviously with all the extra bits on the rig and peak loading will be less ..

Tested the gen 2 already, seems to work fine..

Have a backup monitor on standby incase anything funky happens..

My issue with it is the power backfeed from the monitor into the sled, if 3 batteries on the one circuit is going to cause issues

Move your monitor up higher towards the bottom. Move the Teradek to the bottom. Use a super post if you need to get to ground level. And if speed in switching back and forth between low mode and regular is a concern avoid regular low mode and just turn the rig over without flipping the camera (shoot upside down) and invert the image in the camera menu.

Job specifically required a Sony 4k camera.. Initially was specced as f55, but due to firmware not having capability to shoot off speed at 4k yet had to change to f65..

Wasn't ideal..

Not menus were touched with regards to the SDI output, but I'll check and see the settings on Monday..

I'll give a rundown of how it goes if anyone is interested..

from the manual:

SDI OUT connectors output format:

Setting the camera main video format automatically
determines the signal format that is output on the
SDI OUT connectors.

Camera SDI-out
23.98p 23.98PsF
29.97p 29.97PsF
59.94p 59.94i
24p 24PsF
25p 25PsF

SDI OUT 4:2:2, BNC type (2), HD-SDI signal,
BTA-S004A-compliant, 75 ohms,
0.8 Vp-p, 1.485 Gbps

that would not be good, since the Gen 2 will not accept 720 PSF at this point

does anybody know if this would fix the issue for good?

I had it running all day Friday, gen2.. Camera was set to 25p, So whatever it outputs on SDI, it was working fine.. Teradek was transmitting signal fine off SDI-2

We had a TVLogic on set, and it was able to handle the signal. The gen 2 was not. I wound up doing Decimator and SD input.
