Firmware or hardware, Chris is working on it.

It will hopefully be resolved since this puts "us" in a situation where you always have to be concerned if the specific camera will work with this monitor or not.

does anybody have experience with a cross converter like the aja or decimator to just convert the signal to a usable hd-sdi one?

ah, well there was a reasoning behind using that, and yes I usually try and get rid of the baseplate and just use the dovetail, BUT, the dovetail plate I had could only be mounted so that the rod poked way out infront of the lens that I couldn't get the focus motor to engage where the focus ring was ..
I didn't have access to any other adaptors or mounts so the F65 baseplate helped to eleviate that problem .. trust me , I was trying to shed weight whereever possible ..

Justin, I guess the response would be to outfit your kit with the usual rods and dogbones that we all should have that allow us to get those motors wherever we want. It's one of the few things we can buy under $100. In an effort to "shed weight", you were carrying probably 3-4 lbs more than you needed to, in addition to raising the camera way higher than is ideal.

Justin,

Your gimbal is in a good position but to do it, you've extended your post and are carrying four batteries (yuk!). I'm a firm believer in having bags full of motor mounting tricks that range from rods that mount to our dovetail plates to dog bones to rosette mounts to others. Be sure to carry your own 15mm and 19mm light weight rods in various lengths too. I'm pretty sure I've always been able to mount 19mm carbon fiber rods I have to the top of the F-35/F-65 and hang the motors, but its been awhile so I may be mistaken. I hate raising the CG of a camera (unless I'm doing it intentionally for a very light camera). Lots of tricks out there that seem to be getting forgotten by the next generation.

definitely good points, and need to invest more in purchasing all the little bits and pieces, but has to be at a pace that matches the work, already a large invest in steadicam in the first place - the Australian market is quiet small, I am coming in as a new operator, and through a live TV background, so cant be expected to have every trick and solution sorted .. this forum is a great help though..
are there any lists of manufacturers of bits and pieces for steadicam out there?
