Didn't see anything about this in the archives and wanted to get some seasoned peoples' thoughts...

Since the dog days of summer are upon us (at least in LA), I've been thinking a lot about how to stay cool, especially when it's over 100° F.

Besides the obvious 'don't over-exert yourself,' 'hydrate,' 'seabreeze bandana on your neck,' or 'just don't do it' sort of stuff, has anyone had any success with cooling shirts or vests?

Something like this -

Paired with one of the two of these -

I'm thinking the tubes might be pinched under a vest and/or it's just too much gadgetry.

I feel it's a small price to pay if it keeps you comfortable and makes the load feel a little lighter.

Thoughts?

Those work great until the ice melts, which happens in about 20 mins in a race car with a 10 gallon cooler. the other issue is that the tubes will collapse under the vest and it the don't they are going to be mighty uncomfortable.

Columbia's Omni-Freeze Zero is a MUCH better solution. It's what our troops are wearing in the sandbox. http://www.columbia.com/mens/men,default,sc.html?prefn1=technologyInitiative&prefv1=109

The other "Hot Ticket" involves two ziplock baggies some ice and the Jewels
