Premium Members Philip J. Martinez SOC Posted September 6, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 6, 2013 Does anyone know of a better charger for the Preston batteries and the NP-F750 replacement battery? The Watson chargers SUCK!!! Do I need to pay 2x as much per battery and charger and just buy Sony?
Premium Members Zachary Shannon Posted September 6, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) Hi Philip, If you are looking for an alternative charger for the Sony-F750 battery, I would recommend taking a look at the IDX LC-2S. The LC-2S is a 7.4V 2-Channel Simultaneous battery charger that is going to come standard with IDX's 2-year warranty. You can find more information regarding the charger at the links below.(http://www.idxtek.com/products/lc-2s) (http://www.idxtek.com/sites/default/files/product/datasheet/lc-2s_datasheet.pdf) Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Premium Members Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted September 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 9, 2013 Philip, Omni shots makes a professional (i.e. solid) quick charger: http://stores.omnishotsystems.com/-strse-6/Prestonadaptor-Prestonbattery-Preston-Filmequipment/Detail.bok Their batteries are good too. I've been using them for a few years. Cheap enough that when they start to go, just replace them. They also have the built in battery meter. Premium Members Sanjay Sami Posted September 10, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 Their Castle nut spanner is fantastic - recommend it to your dolly grip. No more using seat risers to hammer the castle nut, and MUCH fewer bleeding knuckles ! One of the few that works with both Chapman and Fisher. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted March 19, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 Reviving this thread. The Omnishots charger looks delightful but I will pass for $299, we don't need them charged THAT efficiently. Anyone have any specific recommendations for the Preston (M series) batteries? The Chinese ones fail pretty regularly, and I think Sony doesn't make them any more. There was that great dual smart charger they made but seems to be gone at this point. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted March 20, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 20, 2016 Thanks Walter. I did some digging and found pictures of my old dual Sony charger where thankfully the product number was on the front: AC-SQ950. I'm seeing a few up for sale on eBay and think I may go that route. It was a bulletproof charger for me for years, sold that with my Camos monitor a few years back. I think the Watson uses adaptors for different batteries, which seems to give a little more possibility for AC's to muck up insertion and removal?
