Premium Members Thomas English Posted September 8, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Posted September 8, 2013 I really enjoyed watching this. Rumour has it that the Steve:Clint relationship is more like the old British system and current Japanese system. Where the camera Operator designs the shot, selects the lenses etc and the DoP just lights it. Certainly this BTS does corroborate this rumour. Maybe people on this forum can add to that? Quote
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted September 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Posted September 8, 2013 Just spent a couple of days doing B camera with that bunch. Steve sets up all the shots with Clint. If only he had a Movi on his Steadicam. 1 Quote
Premium Members Sanjay Sami Posted September 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Posted September 9, 2013 I really enjoyed watching this. Where the camera Operator designs the shot, selects the lenses etc and the DoP just lights it. Certainly this BTS does corroborate this rumour. Maybe people on this forum can add to that? I think this maybe due to the fact that Tom Stern was Jack Green's Gaffer for so many years on Clint Eastwoods movies. And the combination of Campanelli and Stern as Operator and Gaffer is something that he has grown used to as a Director. I am sure it was different when Jack was DoP and Stern and Campanelli were Gaffer and Operator. Quote

Premium Members David Steel Posted October 7, 2013 Premium Members Report Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) Those car mount shots are a classic example of 'lets just get the shot'. Edited October 7, 2013 by David Steel 1 Quote
Matteo Di Iorio Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 I had the pleasure of working as an assistant with Steve Campanelli on a movie in 2007, the nicest camera operator I have ever met. Even amidst the nonsense of a 2 brother director team he was amazing. Quote
