Elliot Gabor
I should also mention that once the steadicam solo is available, I plan to sell my pilot and switch to that for DSLR/event work (it's essentially what I've turned my pilot into accept cheaper) I can put the money I save into a an eventual purchase of a bigger rig that won't need out of the box modifications to fly great. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted December 5, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 That's one reason why I love my Nikon D600, It can put out a signal AND the onboard monitor stays on. NIKON FTW!
Premium Members John Stout Posted December 5, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 Our 5Ds have a composite breakout cable or we take the HDMI and convert it to SDI. Works fine for us when we 5D work with the Zephyr.
Elliot Gabor
John, which 5D are you shooting on? I know the 5D II disables the onscreen LCD when going out of the composite or HDMI. I was pretty sure this is also the case with the 5D III. If I invested in a small HD monitor that I kept on the stage then I could use the output of the Small HD and convert it composite. I've seent this done before, just wish I wouldn't have to complicate the setup. Edited December 5, 2013 by Elliot Gabor
Premium Members John Stout Posted December 5, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 5, 2013 You are correct it does disable the monitor when you use those two outputs. You then use the break out cable to go into the video line at the top of your stage to feed the monitor at the bottom of the sled. Unless I am not understanding something. Caitlyn Timberlake
Canon released an update 6+ months ago for the 5DmkIII allows for both the rear LCD and the HDMI out to display at the same time. Menus only show up on the small LCD, but you get picture on both.
