Hi all,

Maybe some stupid question asked.. but I see some Operators have placed a towel in the back of there neck.. ?!

It seems to me that this is because of the sweat ?

To be honest I hope so.. then I will use this asap.. because after some operating I just loose some weight because of all the sweat.. LOL

Erik

I know that AC Doug Hart keeps bandanas that were soaked in Sea Breeze, an astringent, wrapped around his neck while on set. Not sure if it's the same thing you saw, but it does have a very cooling effect and neither the stuff was chilled, nor the bandanas. I thought of bringing it to set, but I still haven't figured how much to charge on the rental, cuz once the lambs see you with it, they've gotta have it. And they'll pay almost anything to get it.

For those scorching hot days, I have a few "neck buddies". They look just like a bandana rolled up, but it is filled with cooling crystals. You soak it in cold water for five minutes then tie it around your next. Keeps you much cooler. Forget where I got mine (EMS, REI?), but just googled them & found this link:

I've told my secret to many operators here in Italy but I gues they rather sweat than take advice from a younger operator.

I don't remember how I came to this, but, one day I tried to ad to the noamal pading of my 3a vest those mats full of square holes that here in Italy you can get in hardware stores and is generally used on the Kitchen sink to let dishes dry or in the shower to avoid slipping, etc.Made of neoprene.

Anyways. you must ad it on the inner side of the padding.Having a not flat surface it avoids the vest to stick to your skin and reduces sweating in an unbelievable way!! This also helps with heat dispertion and consequently you can keep the rig on longer!!

Often people are surprised when I take my vest off and they don't see those huge soaking sweat marks.

Try it and let me know
