Premium Members Peter Abraham Posted January 6, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 6, 2014 Good evening all, I'm trying to score a lightweight onboard HDSDI recorder. Either powered by 4 pin xlr, smaller sized 3 pin Lemo ( akin to the one used typically to power a ff unit up top ) or by its own battery. Needs to record full broadcast quality 780p. Not sure audio is an issue, but audio inputs couldn't hurt. Need to get ahold of it by the evening of the 9th, using it the 10th, can return it on the 11th. Any New York based Ops able to help a bruthah out? Please email or call me. Many thanks in advance, Peter Abraham, S.O.C. peter@steadicamproductionservices.com 917-453-1219

Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted January 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 7, 2014 I have a nano flash if you need. You'd have to pick up in Long Island tonight after I wrap. Call me if you interested
Andrew Stone
I use both recorders mentioned. I would say the Nanoflash is a lot more steadi friendly. It weighs about 9 ounces and about 6 watts (although the Hyperdeck uses less power) and it is small. There is a way to set the HD-SDI pass through so there is no delay, if that is a concern. The downside on the nano is that the output is 8 bit as opposed to 10 bit, however, you can set the bitrate to the broadcast std of 50 Mbit and higher up to 280. The files are also output in a Quicktime wrapper so they are drag and drop for ingest. Edited January 7, 2014 by Andrew Stone
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted January 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 7, 2014 I use the Hyperdeck on my zephyr with no issue. I placed two stripes of dual lock to a custom recorder mount. T have a power regulator in line and I love the HDMI/SDI conversion in both ways. It also records in QT files when recording in ProRes. Also I'm in Brooklyn.
