Hyperdeck Shuttle + Decimator 2 HDMI out, no video signal

Well, this is likely to be a short-lived issue since my mini-DIN SDI connectors are on the way...

but anyhow, it seems that the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 does not receive a video signal from the HDMI output of the Decimator 2. It simply does not register as a video feed on the hyperdeck. Doesn't light up, doesn't pass-through, doesn't allow recording. Plugging in any regular HDMI device activates it.

Just something I noticed. Is this a known issue?

Also, I've noticed the power draw seems to be immense for the unit....states .84 amps out @ 12v? It's killing our 90wh battery setups that usually run us 4+ hours in only 1.5hrs. Isn't that a little absurd.

What is the signal going into the decimator? Is it a possibility the signal coming from the camera isn't an HDMI-compatible signal?

Maybe you can hook the decimator up to a PC and change the HDMI scaling to a resolution/framerate that works with the shuttle?

Just a thought.

Hi Jarrett,

That's possibly a good point. The decimator HDMI worked fine by itself when we did not use the shuttle.

The decimator is currently set to scale HDMI out as 1080/60Hz

I have a couple of spare din cables as backup if you need them now. Swing by to pick them up when you want. and keep them for as long as you need. Also, if it's not too late try to buy some angled din connectors or you will not be happy.

Also 1080p 60 is not a standard HDMI format and might be an issue with the hyperdeck. try with 1080p 30 (or 1080i 60 for interlaced) It's also a good thing not to send a 60p signal through your Nyrius since it uses twice more bandwidth than 30 for basically the same image on the client monitor.

Thanks I will check this out! Had it set to 1080/60 because of a client with a monitor that wouldn't take any other frequency. Never changed it. Good to know.

I bet this will make things work out fine.

I have found that HDMI is not enabled by default with Decimator 2's. Plug it into a USB on a computer, load the control panel and make sure it's set to scaling and turned on.

EDIT: sorry, just read you already verified HDMI out is enabled. I'll leave this post as a monument to my reading comprehension failures, and a reminder to others to enable HDMI scaling.

Hi there,

don't know if you worked out your problem with the Decimator with the hyper drive which i think is by black magic.

Basically, my experience is the the BM Hyper drive will not except 25p but does except 25pfs.

I don't know why not, i have not delved into it too deeply, however i use my decimator to convert the 25p signal/format to 25psf or 1080i and no problem...

I don't know if the hyper drive is meant to except 25p, but it hasn't on the few occasions i've used my camera gear with different BM. So it could be my set up too but either way the decimator set to output something other than 25p sorts the issue.

hope that may be of help in the future
