Premium Members Jason Ellson Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, My dionic 90's are beat! I am looking to re cell them with John Ritter as opposed to buying new. Does anyone have any thoughts or pro's and con's for doing this as opposed to buying new? Also has anyone had work done by John and can provide a testimonial? Thanks for your help! Jason
Premium Members Frederic Chamberland Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, I have used John re-cell services many times and I give 5 stars to his work. Communications are great and the job is flawless. Highly recommended . Re-celling is almost 1/3 of the price of new. If your Dionic shells are in good shape, I would go the re-cell way. Only con I can see is the cycle counter can't be reset. I just take a ptouch label and stick a "+XXX cycles" to each battery when it comes back so you can still count the cycles. Good luck. Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 Havn't had him do dionics but all my batteries are recelled by him and have been excellent. Wouldn't think twice about it. Seems strange to ship so far but USPS flat rate boxes are cheap and suprisingly quick so it makes sense. ~Jess
Premium Members Benjamin Treplin Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 Are there any Ritter like companies in Europe?
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 I also have a few of his batteries and have sent many people his way. His communication is fantastic, his batteries perform as promised, I've never heard of anyone having a problem with one. I've heard skepticism in regards to recelling batteries in general, nothing specific to him. I emailed him about it and he gave me a detailed explanation of why he believes there should be no concern. It didn't feel so much like a sales pitch either, more like objective information. Of course, that's the best sales pitch ;) Despite Anton Bauer's amazing sale right now, I'm about to send John some HCs because I got a smoking deal and trust his recells to perform as new. Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 I'm sure John does a great job, but just a heads up that B&H has a promotion on A/B batteries right now. $330 for a new Dionic HC. Premium Members Shawn Wang Posted February 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 I'm sure John does a great job, but just a heads up that B&H has a promotion on A/B batteries right now. $330 for a new Dionic HC. I just purchased 8 of those today . for 330 USD, very good deal on ANTON BAUER. and right after the purchase somebody on the facebook group told me there is a AB battery that optical support is selling, 40% more efficient than AB DIONIC HC. and Ive checked the price, 395 EURO = 550 USD. still, 330, really really great deal./
Premium Members Jason Ellson Posted February 18, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks for the feedback. Yes those prices new from ab and b&h are excellent, plus Paul from AB is an wonderful supporter for members of this community. John however, can re-cell my 6 batts around $162/batt (discount above 5) and claims they perform better than new ones. That price is still less than half of the best price offered for new ones currently. His communication has been excellent so I think I will give it a go! Thanks again for your advice! Cheers. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted May 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2014 I would be interested to know if John can re-cell Dionic 90s with the cells used in Dionic HC bricks to get a higher current draw out of them. Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted May 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2014 According to John, these are using the same cells, the electronics and wiring is different
