Hello.

I've been working as a DP for 7 years now. Now I'm looking into learning steadicm. Looking for a good workshop, well the best actually. So do you veterans have any advice for workshops around.

I've read about them here, but want to know which one you think are best.

Thanks

Dear Lars:

Make the trip to Philly. Learning about the steadicam from GB himself is the way to go. Garrett provides a perspective that no one else can. Also Garrett is a very charming host. Truly 1st class.

You won't regret it.

Lars-

If the Paris or Philly workshops are not good for your schedule, Hofmann AB will be having a great workshop in Sweden in late October (for which I am the lead instructor, as I generally am for the Philly one as well).

Paris should be fun if you can make it ? Garret and I will be there, with, I am told, Alex Brambilla, Ruben Sluijter, Valentin Monge, and Jean Marc Bringuer, all amazing ops and teachers.

Nice to have choices!

Missed some good posts here.

Thanks for the tips so far. The class in Sweden seems to be full. :( They might have a space open, though. I'm hoping on this one, since it's not far from where I live. (Norway)

Where is Yellow Springs, Ian?

Anymore classes you'll be holding in Europe, Jerry?

No, wait! Just talked to Hofmann. He said there still was room for one more. So I guess I'll be in Stockholm then. Cool!

Just finished the workshop today. Sitting at the hotel and feel a bit sad actually. :(

Being around such a great operator as Jerry was a fantastic experience.

A great workshop where Jerry and the other teachers, Danish and Swedish, really push you to do the best you can. In both the relationship with you and the rig, and knowing how to use it to get great images.

My wife actually told me to go and buy a rig. Hmmm....a good choice in a spouse I must admit.

I already have my first job at steadicam. A 2-day shoot at a documentary in December. Got it today. Well, I'm also filming the rest, but the director wanted to use steadicam when I said I was taking the course.

To all who are thinking about taking a course...do it with Jerry Holway. You will not regret it! Just do it. Why are you still sitting here and reading this? Go and find out when the next workshop with Jerry is. Go. Now.
