Range increases depend on environmental factors, but it's been tested from 2,700 ft all the way to a mile. I thought I read somewhere that the FCC had not approved the Paralinx or the Teradek units for use with externally attached array antennas currently and they are only approved for the attached external rubber duck versions? Not that it matters all that much I guess considering our old Modulus / Canatrans systems were not approved for operation in the US at all. It would be good to get a definitive answer because I think rental houses and the studios would have some issues with this if the array system is illegal to use officially. Frankly I think our government should have better things to spend their time and our money on but the FCC can be really odd about this stuff. Premium Members Dan Kanes Posted March 10, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) The Controlled backchannel on Paralinx Tomahawk is actually on a PCB antenna inside our receiver, so it's a fixed dbi for anyone trying to split hairs. Can't speak for the legality of what anyone else is doing or trying. Ultimately it's the choice of the end user and their duty to responsibly manage signals in a professional environment. In order for a device to operate within certain channels in the 5 GHz unlicensed band, it needs the ability to dynamically adjust its frequency. For the end-user, this means that your device has access to more channels, and has the ability to dynamically move to channels with less noise.
