Anybody have any experience with this Marshall monitor for Steadicam use? I've always been a fan of transflective screens, find they work great in sunlight. This monitor also has a digital horizon indicator as an added option. Also has a variety of battery backs to choose from including Anton Bauer and V mount. Marshall tells me the horizon overlay can be moved and placed anywhere on the screen, which is a nice feature. The only cons I see so far are no image flip feature. And also there's no peaking in full color mode. Only a black and white "focus assist" peaking mode. Otherwise looks like a pretty nice monitor, would love to hear some real world experiences.

I have 4 of these monitors and I love them. There is image flip on the newer generation. I love the false color feature and can trust it in all situations. The monitor is sharp enough for focus as well. For the money this is a great monitor.

For Steadicam it is nice and daylight viewable. Whites tend to clip a little early making it not so great for judging exposure. I was having some issues with image delay recently that may have been purely from the epic but I was kind of getting the feeling there may have been a little bit of delay in the monitor as well, I need to test this. In general I have been really happy with it. Haven't had the chance to try the level.

I concur with everything that has been said... The level is OK, not great in terms of responsiveness. The fatal flaw with it is the mini usb style connector on the side. If you are to use it, I would strongly suggest that it be hardwired into the monitor with the cable going into the casing on the bottom edge, rather than the side (very goofy design decision on the USB style port). The peaking function is, in practical terms, excellent. Although I would be using that function when shooting on sticks and using the 651STX as a reference monitor. Both false color and peaking can be assigned to one of the buttons on the front of the monitor.

It is a versatile monitor for the price, if you don't have the scratch to get a Transvideo monitor.
