Premium Members Kelsey W. Smith Posted March 31, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Looking for some feedback on steadi monitors. I think its finally time to upgrade to a HD version, lots of choices out there and hoping some of you guys can shed some light. ( I still love my TB-6 though B) ) - Is 8" monitor too big? (yes, size does matter! :D ) - What HD monitor are you using? (Looking for something that is good outdoors as well as a good ref monitor) Here are the ones I'm looking at (in no particular order): - Transvideo HD Evolution Superbright - DP7 High Bright - Cinetronics G2 Thanks, Kelsey W. Premium Members James Baldanza SOC Posted March 31, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Those are all great monitors. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. BUT I can't say enough about my Generation1 Cinetronic. And at a refurbished price of $2200 it's a steal. -James
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 31, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 If you choose Transvideo, go for the X-sbl version, or wait for the cinegear to see the new XCS Tb7

Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 31, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 I'm not sure if it's still in the works. It's been a while without news about the TB7. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=17277&p=90523

Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted March 31, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 I have used the Boland 8.4 HD Daybright for the past six years and absolutely love the product: performance and support have been exemplary. Highly recommend the product and the company.
Premium Members Kelsey W. Smith Posted April 1, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 Hey Brant. Hows the 8" monitor for tight spaces? I really would like the extra real-estate in screen, but I'm not sure if its too big? Have you had any issues?
Premium Members chris bangma Posted April 1, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 The Cinetronic Gen2+ will be available before Cinegear, and has the highest brightness highest resolution 7" screen. The screen is FullHD 1920x1080, so you can see every detail. This screen also has the widest viewing angle and highest contrast of all the 7" screens available. All this combines to be the most daylight viewable steadicam monitor available.
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted April 1, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 Small HD and Cinetronic Gen 1 are both good buys. Small HD, I feel is a little more future proof than the Gen 1, but about $1000 more. At around $3000 (for Small HD), however, neither one could be considered expensive. They'd both serve well as primary monitors, and at the same time allow you to save some $$ for when the TB7 does come out, at which point a new benchmark will likely be set, you can use your saved money to buy one, and still have a good backup...or sell the old one for some extra cash. Premium Members Kelsey W. Smith Posted April 1, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 How many of you guys are flying 8" monitors? Would you recommend the 8" or the 6"?
Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted April 1, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 what about 7"? I like my Gen 1 and my Hummingbird.. Both are 7".
Premium Members Guille Moreno Posted April 1, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 I'd go for Cinetronic... but I haven't tried the new Transvideo. I've seen the small HD, is very good as well. I'd really like to see the new Gen2+ screen, though, sounds very promising!
