Premium Members Sanjay Sami Posted April 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2014 Has anyone used this as a directors monitor ? The inbuilt recording is a cool idea. Are there any Steadicam monitors that offer this ? Would be super convenient to eliminate a separate onboard recorder.

Premium Members paul magee Posted April 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 I've been using mine as an on-camera monitor. The waveform and other testing modes are dead on. Took a little while to get used to OLED black but other than that it's been great. I've used the on board record function twice, once in ProRez and the other using the Sony FS 700 codec both went perfectly. They promise more functionality with future downloads. There are a few video tutorials on their website. Here's a demo with the 7Q in Multi stream mode with two Bolt receivers wired up to it. It's not a Steadicam monitor but as a production tool I've been happy with the purchase. Paul Magee soc Philadelphia, PA
Premium Members Sanjay Sami Posted April 3, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 Very nice ! I am guessing this isn't bright enough to be a monitor on steadicam ?
Premium Members paul magee Posted April 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 Not bright enough and the touch screen is to reflective.
Brett Manyluk
We have a couple on set as director's monitors and the picture is fantastic. They've been bright enough to use in daylight with a bit of help from a towel or a flop. Again, not suitable for steadicam, but I was surprised at how visible the image was for director's use. The DP is using them for quick exposure when we don't have time to drag a tent around the village. They are set up in a cool custom over/under bracket that drops down on a c-stand. Quick and easy for the assistants to drag around set with a couple panavision RX onboard. Now the panavision TX/RX is another story entirely...
