Meeting up with London op

Hello,

I'm a 20 year old film student interested in meeting up with a professional London (or nearby) operator for some steadicam talk. I have been wanting to get into the industry as a steadicam op for about a year now, and I have come to learn that it is a several year-long process. I am a complete newbie and I have only been playing with a hand held Glidecam for a year now, something I know is not anything like the real deal, as I did the silver workshop last December. So I have an idea of how hard it is to get the good shots, because I haven't done a single one that I am happy with yet. I am also going to invest in a rig as soon as I can afford it.

So, If there are any ops in the London area that would be interested in meeting for a coffee or beer/wasting some time, maybe even let me join them on a gig as an assistant or pure observer, I would appreciate it so much, as it would be an invaluable experience for me.

To be honest, I don't really know if this is how things are done on this site, but I thought I'd just throw it out there and see what happens.

This website is an amazing resource, and reading the posts that you guys write is more informative and useful than anything I have ever learnt from my tutors at film school.

Thanks you for taking the time to read my post.

Tom
