Achim Girnth
how about following a blond small nice girl? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Job! ... seems to be a good Idea, but in his Video he followed a redhead-girl, which also worked fine! I got my V20 two weeks ago and I am surprised how good this works for a beginner! Anyhow, I would be interested in doing a Training with you, but I won't be able to do this before end of September, so we might get into contact the next weeks. I am heavily working on loosing my own bodys "payload" so it will be more reasonable to do the training then ... cu Achim

Premium Members Charles Papert Posted August 28, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 28, 2005 what about the "smoothness" of the shots, can someone mistake them with an profesional rig? what can you say about the quality of the selfmade rig compared with an prof. rig when you see only the shots. thats the point at this moment, where may i upgrade the system. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's pretty tricky to analyze footage (unless it has obvious vibration in it) and make an evaluation about the quality of the stabilizer as it has so much to do with the operator. From looking at your pictures, you've done a great job building the rig so I think that unless you are experiencing any glaring issues, I'd recommend focusing your energy just on the operating for now and save the tinkering for down the road, if you can! Practicing may be boring but it's the only way to "quiet down" the shots so that they emulate what you are used to seeing in movies and on TV. Keep it up! Premium Members Robert Eder Posted September 7, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 7, 2005 Hey Matze, Nice to meet some guys from HBS here. The pictures of the rig are really nice, especially the ones with the z1, i own the fx1 with xlr adapter. looking forward to buy the mattebox you were using. i´ve built a homemade too, maybe you saw it on hbs. no i´m in about the same situation as you are, having a rig and wondering about if the shakes which are still in the image come from the rig or from the op. i think its both but i see improvements in each day walking the line, sometimes i get perfect floating shots, sometimes they are shakey. btw. i wonder why you use a focusdrive on the z1 steadysetup?! you cant turn the wheel during op. without destroying the image. so how was the focus controlled? with the chipsize of 1/3" focus control on wide angles seems senseless although. i also wonder about that redhaired girl. i could bet i´ve seem her in some other project but can´t remember where... where in germany are you living? Greetings, Robert
Matze-s-l
i´m from hamburg. we didn´t need my remotefocus so why removing the followfocus? it was used on dollyshots. for the steadicam we used a fixed focus position or the autofocus which was fast enough for our shots. the girl named Marleen Lohse ( http://gottschalk-behrens.de/cgi-bin/perso...hse.csv&IMAGE=0 )
