Love the system, the antennas are crap. Break easily.

I seem to remember that they're about £100 pounds each from theboxx directly. Anybody know if there's a more cost friendly antennas that is compatible with the Merdian system?

Hmmmm

I've been through a lot of Antennas having had a Switronix before the Boxx and I have to say that whilst the Boxx antennas at £100 are ten times the price of all the dual band antenna you can get on Ebay / Amazon they are 10 times better. Its a high wearing item that is easily mistreated. Any Antenna that can handle 5.7band is fine so long as you have the correct SMA connector on the receiver. On the TX side you'll need a SMA to BNC adaptor. I've never seen one for sale but certain they are available.

Basically what I am saying is that as far as I know and my hours of googling just buy the Boxx ones. They are good. Let me know though if you do come up with anything.

Hi Thomas,

thanks for the reply. I'll let you know if my search is successful. I know the good ones have a price tag on them, spoken on numerous occasions with Scott at theboxx. He said that it's a fine line between the quality of the build of the antennas and price tag. I have 4 military style ones, unbreakable but twice as big as the smaller antennas.

The Boxx TX antennas are 25 Pounds each, around $42,50 US. FOB London You need a broadband antenna that can handle 5.1 to 5.9 GHZ, The 5.7/5.8 antennas do not work very well when you use the lower channel. Laird makes a good one,RD-2458-5-RTNC,but not nearly as rugged as the OEM ones, but less expensive.

The OEM antennas are available from Boxx Communications in LA or me at Dynamic Video Electronics, Mississauga, On., Canada, petedve@rogers.com, I also stock the Laird antennas.

Anyone ever tried these on their Meridian?

I've used them on other 5Ghz transmitter devices with RP-SMA connectors with great results. Furthermore, they have 90 degree bends if you want, and they're more rigid than the standard Boxx antennas.

If you order the ones above, be sure to order RP-SMA antennas.
