Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted June 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2014 FYI: I found a great place to purchase custom-cut Lexan monitor screen protectors. 1/8 inch thickness seems to be perfect.... https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/polycarbonate_sheets_ar/
Premium Members Kar Wai Ng Posted June 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2014 What I find works really well is to go to a custom framing store, and have them cut to size a piece of optically-coated anti-reflective acrylic, the same conservation-grade stuff they use for high end artwork that, because of the optical coating, almost disappears in the frame. The stuff I got was "Optium Acrylite AR Museum." This is not frosted or pebbled; it's absolutely crystal clear and the optical coating is what makes it anti reflective. Less than 2% of the light is reflected; regular acrylic in comparison is like a mirror. This stuff is not cheap: about $45 for a little piece for a 5.6" monitor, about $250 for a 17" monitor, but it's the only stuff worth using. Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted June 7, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2014 I'm using it only when the rig is docked. No point in putting something over the screen that impairs while operating...:-)
Premium Members James Baldanza SOC Posted June 8, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2014 I've gotten all my Lexan screen protectors at Lowes and they cut it to size for me. But I'll try Jens's place next week when I get my Transvideo.
