wheelchairs and rickshaws

Dear All!

 

Your advice would be much appreciated. I have a 3 day shoot coming up which will consist of all running shots as people jump over cars and the like.

 

I have nt the time to build my own rickshaw and the production do not have the money to hire optical supports rickshaw. So I am examining some options (also found in the archives)

 

Using a western dolly? hard mounted with a bazooka.

Is this any good at high speeds, constantly all day? (high speeds being running not sprinting)

 

Or modifing a wheelchair. These are three wheelchairs I found on ebay. Which do you think is best? I was thinking of building a structur off it to the left and right so the 2 grips would push u from either side thus adding stability.

 

I have a week to come to a solution!!!!!!!

Arun and Daniel and I are making good progress on the Rickshaw. Will update you tomorrow maybe it will spur us on a bit. We have the basic frame made just looking for wheels and seat now.

The red one looks the best option how much is it ?

What s the terrain ?

How about the Magliner with pneumatics Ive used this on reasonably smooth surface not too fast but saves the legs.

What about a Rhoades Car?

 

I'm sure it's too late for your upcoming shoot but something to think

about in the future..

 

You could turn one of the back seats around, add a hard mount and operate from there. Your Camera assistant could pull focus from the other back seat (turn that seat around too)

 

The dolly grip could drive and another grip could help pedal or perhaps the director could pedal :)

 

You can also add an "assist motor" for speeds up to 18 mph.
