Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted July 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Hi folks.does anyone have experience powering the smallhd DP1 or 1x with a gold mount plate? I'm told the voltage needs to be regulated 12v only. Any thoughts? Trying to make one into a handheld directors monitor with an HC on the back on a plate of sorts. Thanks, Ozzie
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted July 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 The website does say 12v regulated, but someone could probably make you a regulator in line with the power lines from the AB plate to the monitor. Thanks, Ozzie Ozzie, I have two AC-7 with Paralinx using Dionic 90 and Dionic HC. No issues with voltage. Using them for a year! JA
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted July 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Ozzie is asking about the 1x (ac7's grandpa). Maybe Alan Rencher's new power regulator box could do the trick?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted July 23, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 23, 2014 According to the manual, http://www.smallhd.com/support/docs/DP1XManual.pdf, it takes 12V regulated. I remember this monitor. It used a special battery that SmallHD used to sell, and the battery output is 9V-12V. That monitor pulls 12W at 12V, so that's 1A. I can make a regulator for that monitor that can run it off of voltages from 3A-32A. I am working on a regulator for this kind of situation: Input: 3-32VOutput: 4-42V, 2A Features:Bayonet locking input and output connectors, adjustable output (adjusts with #0 Phillips screwdriver), LCD voltage readout w/ on/off switch. The cool thing about this regulator is that you can use it to boost voltage. For example: power a Teradek Bolt from a USB battery.

Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted July 23, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 23, 2014 Hi Walter, I'm still working out the price for a production run, but a hand-made preproduction regulator costs $65. If anyone is interested in a pre-production version, please email alan@mediablackout.net. Thanks Alan
Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted July 28, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 28, 2014 What style connector is on each end?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted July 28, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 28, 2014 Same as AJA uses for its Mini-Converters, Micro-Con-X. It will use the same polarity, so it will be compatible with AJA cables.
Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted July 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 29, 2014 Where do you dial in the output voltage? Are there dip switches inside the housing?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted July 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 29, 2014 If you look below the LCD, you'll notice a small hole; There is a potentiometer in there that you can adjust with a small Phillips screwdriver. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted August 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 14, 2014 I'm doing a small production run of these, and they'll be ready next week. If you're interested in grabbing one of these from the first batch, head on over to: http://mediablackout.net/product/dynamo-dc-converter/
