Tally light and zoom control help.

I've been op'ing (sticks & handheld) on and off for some years on live events, but the cam utility always builds my camera so its just ready and waiting when I show. I haven't done much live steadicam work yet; too used to music video nonsense, industrials and narrative work. Now I'm breaking in doing steadi on a live stream and am expected to hook up my own tally light. Other option, using a phone velcroed to my monitor... last resort. Also need a zoom controller that will fit my Ergo gimbal handle.

Q:Tally light, need to rent for Aug 14th. Who, what, when, where, why and how? I do know the why. I'm NYC based. I own a Bon BPM-071S monitor with (I believe) some sort of a tally function.

Q: I also need to rent a zoom controller for either canon or fujinon zoom. Saw somthing about an N7 and ZOE 8 - 12. I've read that there is some jumper difference with the two brands or a different cable fore each. Need to rent for same date.

Using:

-Gen 2 Pro/XCS sled

-cinetronic gen 1 (don't plan on using. topic for another discussion...)

-back up monitor - Bon BPM-071S

- Hitachi sk-hd1000

- Fujinon or Canon zoom lens (tba)

Please feel free to post previous forum links; I did search with some avail. But did come across a page where people complained about plugging "tally light" or "tally" into the forums search with little results. Same here.

Thank so mucho in advance!

These are kind of prerequisites for working in Live, so I'm shocked that you don't even know where to begin. But I'll try my best to help you..

I use the G-zoom on my Ergo handle and it comes ready for Canon and Fuji zoom. Pick your focus interface (Canon, Fuji, BarTech).

Erik Anderson makes them and he's up there in the Northeast with you.

Tally is not a requirement, it's a luxury. The answer to "how" depends on the camera (triax, fiber, coax, wireless?) and on your sled (does it have a tally circuit built in?). My guess is no if you have a stock PRO Gen2. You should contact Peter Abraham regarding this device:

Definitely contact Peter about his Tally Box. Its a sensor that you tape to the tally light on the camera, the run the cable down the front of your sled and tape the tally light above your monitor. That's it. As for your sled with a gen 1, You can definitely work live shows with it. I also have a PRO/XCS hybrid and did the entire season of The Voice Kids ( Spanish version) with the Gen 1, the second season I went Transvideo HD6 classic, but you can definitely do it with the Gen 1.

For zoom, you can use what Mike uses or the Stanton system... for about $2300 you have the controller that goes on the gimbal, and the motor to attach to Canon and Fuji broadcast lenses.

I use a totally old system, which is a zoe eng controller for the zoom and a bartech small box hard wire focus controller connected to a modified BFD receiver and then the receiver to the Stanton Motor.

They all work, they all make the live guys money.

I'm going to have an original J7 zoom and focus controller selling soon.

Thanks for the advice. I actually know more than I credited myself with. Just a bit worried cause production hasn't given me any answers, and things keep changing and I keep asking.

Now using ex3 instead of hitachi sk-hd1000, lens is still n/a. most likely not going with the stock lens. should be a 1/3 canon or fuji zoom, also assumption at this point.

Would like to use my Gen 1, but currently it doesn't like low mode and the signal cuts in and out once in a while.

No, I have no tally circuit in my Gen 2.

Going wireless out via bolt.

Mite be interested in your zoom cntrl Osvaldo, keep me posted. For now, need to rent. Gotta see if I will get more work in live to be worth a buy.

I will contact Peter, thank you. Seems like a very reasonable system.
