Powering FF/Camera off Pilot top stage

After recently upgrading my pilots AA power supply to an AB mount, I'm wanting to power some items off the top stage but haven't been sure about the best route to go. Does anyone know of any good options to provide power to multiple items off of the 2.1mm dc out that's standard to the Pilot, a custom breakout box or adapters? As of now my only plan is to make a DC to lemo power cable for the follow focus, but I'm unsure if the unregulated volatage will be a problem.

 

Ideally I'd like to have an option to power wireless video, and follow focus off the stage, leaving the only other thing power by the AB being the monitor.

 

As far as volts are concerned I believe the output off the stage is around 17 volts so ample enough to power most everything I'd think, possibly just an Epic alone if I was ambitious?

Hi Jonathan,

 

Before you do anything, you should be aware that the Pilot is not meant to power anything too gnarly. I'm not sure of the spec, but I wouldn't try to Power an Epic from it. Having said that, I used to own a Pilot, and I would power a Bartech from the top stage all of the time. The best option would be to have a 2.1mm DC barrel to your follow focus cable made.

 

On that note, what accessories, specifically, do you want to power from the top stage?

I was planning on powering a PD movie follow focus that uses a lemo connection and terradek bolt. I'm pretty sure the option is available to power either of them via p tap but I don't want to run a line from the AB plate to the top stage. I was hoping I could devise a splitter of sorts off the top stage, I'm prettty sure the power would be sufficient.

I am also interested in such a configuration ; powering from the Pilot's stage :
- Teradek Bolt Pro (already have a lemo from P-tap)

- follow focus (could be lemo from P-tap also I guess)

- Decimator from Pilot's stage (already have a lemo from P-tap)

So a DC 2.1mm connector to P-tap multi should be OK... Alan would you plan to make one (multi) ?
