Henry Spreckler
I'm located in Los Angeles. Where can I find you? Being honest, I was thinking of just going with IKAN but if you're close by, a visit wouldn't hurt. Also, I'm big on customer service. I don't want to have to spend 2-3k of my own money on a monitor just to come to a dead-end when it comes to needing help if my monitor is having issues, or if i'm unhappy with it. Michael Choi
Michael, hope you'll fix the customer service at BON. As mentioned, I'm happy with my monitor and their price range is very competitive. Hey Lars. Any chance you'll be making it out to IBC this September? Premium Members Lars Erik Posted August 13, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 13, 2014 Hey Lars. Any chance you'll be making it out to IBC this September? Hi Michael, perhaps. It all comes down to the work schedule here at home. I'm hoping to make it, even though it might be just fly up and down on the same day. Henry Spreckler
A big thanks to Michael for the help. This monitor is working great and pleased with the customer service. Premium Members Alfeo Dixon SOC Posted August 19, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 I am amazed at the quality and features of my SmallHD DP7 Pro OLED. It's a US company although most if probably made in China
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted August 19, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 Here is a quick list of the HighBright HD monitors and Digital levels available on the market. Prices might not be updated. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aln7iPn_kB2sdHowWElqVk1HWlRkdjgxcjJKN01XRGc&usp=sharing
Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted August 19, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 19, 2014 Thank you so much for putting this list together. So nice to have all the specs on one page. I think the Bon and Ikan which are the same are the best when comparing resolution, brightness and price. Second place probably goes to the SmallHD. What's great when I went in last week was, I got a 20% August discount because supposedly BON is coming out with some new products in September at the IBC. Quite worth it, IMO. Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted August 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 Do you use the digital level included in the DP7 monitor or an external one?
Premium Members Mike McGowan SOC Posted August 22, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 External. But I use a Cinetronic Gen 2 on my sled (though the DP7 would proably work just as well). I use the DP7 as my operators monitor and for pretty much everything other than steadicam. It's super well made, works great in bright light, it's got a huge screen for a small sized monitor, it's light, it has reletivly low power draw, it has built in everything. It ranks right up there with my PRO as 'happy purchases'...
Premium Members Lars Erik Posted August 26, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 26, 2014 Having spoken to my steadicam colleague here in Norway, I must rephrase my previous comment on BON customer service. I still have a bad experience with them, but this was through a 3rd party in the US who distributed BON monitors. My colleague says he has dealt directly with BON South-Korea and is very happy with their service. There was one small incident, but nothing to mention. I'll see you at IBC Michael, and we can speak there. LE
